
FABLE SAUSAGE ROLLS
Flaky, savory, and loaded with umami — a crowd-pleasing twist on a classic, perfect for parties, lunches, or snacking any time

INGREDIENTS
1 box of Fable Pulled Shiitake Mushrooms
2 tsp vegetable stock
2 cups boiling water
1 brown onion, chopped
1 large carrot, grated
1-2 garlic cloves, minced
3 tbsp BBQ sauce of choice
3 tbsp tomato sauce of choice
Salt and pepper, to taste
6 sheets of puff pastry sheets, thawed
Olive oil or milk, for tops of sausage rolls
Optional garnishes:
Fresh thyme and rosemary
Poppy seeds or sesame seeds
METHOD
Preheat oven to 180°C. Place Fable into a mixing bowl, adding stock and boiling water and allowing to soak for 5 mins. When water has cooled, shred and pull apart the Fable using a fork or your hands.
Drain excess water leaving shredded Fable slightly damp. Add onion, garlic, carrot, bbq sauce, tomato sauce, salt, pepper and optional herbs.
Now take a sheet of puff pastry. Add 1/6 of your filling to the edge of the pastry sheet and roll up tightly. Repeat the process with the other 5 sheets.
Chop each sheet into quarters and add to a lined baking tray. Brush oil or milk on top of each roll. Optional to sprinkle poppy seeds or sesame seeds on top.
Bake in the oven for 30 mins, until golden brown, and make sure the bottom is also cooked well. Let rest for 5 mins before digging in!
